Robert Blake Margolis was elected in August 2017. He has been a resident of Rowlett his entire life and has been an active member of the community since he was six years old. Margolis, age eighteen as of June 3, 2017, is the youngest elected official in the City of Rowlett and one of the youngest in the State of Texas.
Margolis was the founder of the once popular social media page "Rowlett Scanner". Robert created the platform when he was fourteen years old and ran it until he was seventeen. The platform was created to inform the citizens in Rowlett of emergency and city events.
Margolis was appointed to the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Advisory Board as a Junior Alternate member in 2016 where he served for two terms. On the board, he was able to bring a fresh and young perspective to the table. He was an active member with "Rebuild Kids Kingdom" and was involved in the planning stages.
He attended public school until the eighth grade when he started homeschooling with Liberty University Academy, which is accredited by the State of Texas. Margolis will be attending the University of Texas at Dallas to obtain a Masters in Political and Management Science.
Margolis would like the city to continue to do more for the senior citizens in Rowlett and inspire young people like him to get involved in their city.
