About Our VIPS Program
Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) are citizens who have come together to help promote safety and cleanliness in our neighborhoods. The VIPS Program provides support and resources for agencies interested in developing or enhancing a volunteer program and for citizens who wish to volunteer their time and skills with a community law enforcement agency. The police department coordinates with VIPS to make the City safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. Volunteering with the City provides opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures to make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds.
VIPS has many qualified volunteers that perform tasks that free up police officers, and more importantly, they serve as role models for other citizens within the community. The Rowlett Police Department is always looking for knowledgeable volunteers to assist with administrative, clerical or patrol duties.
To participate in VIPS, you must complete the Citizen's Police Academy (CPA)
then fill out the application
and indicate if you would like to participate in clerical or administrative duties.
The program’s ultimate goal is to enhance the capacity of state and local law enforcement to utilize volunteers by leveraging all available resources. For detailed information on the program, applications
