Animal Shelter Renovations Underway Beginning January 31

Your patience is appreciated while we bring exciting updates to the Rowlett Animal Shelter facility! The front area of the Rowlett Animal Shelter will be undergoing renovations beginning January 31. The project is expected to last several months.

 During this time …

  • The lobby area of the shelter is closed to the public and administrative operations will temporarily move to the Community Development building located at 5702 Rowlett Road.
Animal Services operations will not be affected – all the animals will continue to receive the same exemplary level of love and care staff has always showered upon them while they are guests in our shelter.
  • All animals are posted on the City of Rowlett Animal Services Facebook page and may be seen in person by appointment only. Please call the Animal Services team at 972-412-6219 Monday - Saturday 10am to 5pm.
  • If you have an animal emergency, please call 972-412-6200.
  • New volunteer opportunities will be on hold. If you are interested in volunteering with Animal Services, please check back in July.  We LOVE our volunteers!

We appreciate your patience and apologize in advance for any inconvenience – stay tuned for updates and an invitation to our public unveiling once the renovations are complete!

Staff members assist residents with a variety of animal-related issues, such as:

Animal Shelter

The shelter provides temporary housing to lost animals until they can be reunited with their owner or placed in the adoption program. The shelter issues all City of Rowlett pet registrations. Fees incurred due to adoption, redemption and registration help to fund shelter services.

Please feel free to stop by the shelter or call 972-412-6219 to speak with a staff member regarding any animal-related questions you may have.

The Rowlett Animal Services' primary function is to promote animal safety through responsible pet ownership education. The enforcement of Texas State laws and City of Rowlett Code of Ordinances is another responsibility as well.
